Short Description of the Program

InfoRapid KnowledgeMap is a complete Knowledge Management System suitable for use at home, at work or on the company intranet. The suite consists of two components: an image-editing (drawing) program for creating graphically sophisticated mindmaps, and the intelligent KnowledgeMap server, which analyzes text document content and integrates it with a knowledge map.

Use the Drawing Program not only for knowledge maps but for organizational charts, decision trees, and work breakdown structures, taking down your ideas when brainstorming, or generating XML files from structure diagrams. Knowledge maps can be published on the Web or your intranet, can be added to WinWord, Excel and PowerPoint documents, and can be printed in almost any size you choose (the program automatically adds cut marks at the edge of the printed sheet.)

The KnowledgeMap Server can import text documents in HTML, RTF, WinWord or PDF format, analyzing them and summarizing them in a knowledge map. Externally the KnowledgeMap Server appears as a normal webserver, meaning you can use your Internet browser to view knowledge maps. This allows seamless integration with your company's existing intranet.

The Knowledge Map itself contains a graphical overview of each document with the most important items and text excerpts. Items are ordered hierarchically, as in mindmaps, and grouped by content type. The purpose of the content overview is to give you a good idea in the shortest possible time of the nature and content of selected documents. From the content overview, a hyperlink takes you to another page, showing similar documents dealing with the same subject matter. From this page you can easily navigate to those documents that are of interest to you. You enter the Knowledge Map by way of an index page, listing all documents in the Knowledge Map and offering a full-text search capability like that of well-known Web search engines. This full-text search is the ideal entry mechanism to the Knowledge Map. If you find only a single document that looks interesting from the index, click the „Similar Documents“ link and navigate to it from there.

InfoRapid KnowledgeMap is also a great tool for Collecting Information. As a background process, the program inserts in a diagram all the keywords and images from online material you copy to the Windows clipboard. Structure and format the information via drag-and-drop, and in just a few minutes you've created a sophisticated graphical diagram displaying the most important of the information from material you review.

Versions & Pricing

Whether part of the Private Edition or of the Professional Edition, the KnowledgeMap Server is only licensed for a single user. If you want to use the program as a knowledge management system in a company intranet, you will need a Server License, allowing simultaneous use of the program by a specified number of users.

Upon ordering you will receive the Professional Edition on CD-ROM by mail, along with a license containing your name and address. The license contains a license number that you must enter when starting the program for the first time. Additionally, you will receive an Update Coupon, which you may redeem at a later time when an update becomes available.
