π§ Memorize Items
The Memorize Items menu transforms the InfoRapid KnowledgeBase Builder into a highly intelligent flashcard trainer (comparable to dedicated learning apps like Anki or Quizlet). The system keeps track of exactly which content you have already mastered and where you still need practice, taking over the complete organization of your learning process.
Item names and item descriptions are alternately used as questions and answers during the querying.
βοΈ Preparation and Learning Settings
Before the querying starts, a dialog box opens where you can customize the training session to your current needs.
- Memorize [ X ] items of the current diagram in this exercise unit: Here you set the package size, i.e., how many cards you want to process in the current session (e.g., 20 items).
- Choose correct answer out of [ X ] answers: Determines the difficulty level. You define how many multiple-choice answers should be offered for selection simultaneously during the query.
- Also memorize items that are not waiting to learn (Checkbox): Normally, the system only selects cards that are "due" today according to the schedule. Check this box ("Force Learning") to force the system to query items even if their repetition is not actually pending yet.
- Commit to memory only (Checkbox): Skips the quiz mode. The question and answer are displayed simultaneously on one page so that you can first calmly memorize completely new content.
- Filter Drop-down: By default, this is set to "Learn all items". You can click the drop-down menu to specifically select "Learn only items with a text note" or "Learn only items without a text note".
π How the Query Works (The Quiz)
The system doesn't just blindly query you, but cleverly adapts the type of question to the respective information:
- Clever Multiple-Choice Questions: During the query, the app presents you with one correct and several incorrect answers. The trick: The system does not choose the incorrect answers purely at random from the entire database, but specifically looks for terms that look very similar to the correct answer (e.g., have a similar text length). This makes pure guessing by the process of elimination extremely difficult β you really have to know the answer. (Note: A correct answer is marked green, an incorrect one red).
- Automatic Fill-in-the-Blanks: If the requested answer is not a single word but a longer description text, the system automatically converts it into a fill-in-the-blank text. Important words in the text are hidden by placeholders like
[...], and you have to identify which words are missing.
π The Intelligent Schedule (Spaced Repetition) & Statistics
The actual core of the function is the algorithm in the background ("Spaced Repetition"). It evaluates every click you make and individually adjusts the learning plan for each individual card.
- If your answer was CORRECT: The card moves up a level and will be scheduled with a larger interval for the future. You will be queried less and less frequently (the intervals increase in steps to 1 day, 5 days, 14 days, up to a month), the more securely the knowledge is anchored in your long-term memory.
- If your answer was WRONG: The system relentlessly remembers that this card is not yet memorized. The previous interval progress for this specific card is reset, and the card is re-inserted within the same learning session after a few other questions. This is repeated until you answer the card correctly.
Your Learning Statistics at a Glance: In the lower section of the settings dialog, you will always find an overview of your current progress:
- [ X ] items have not been trained.
- [ X ] items should be repeated now. (Your daily workload)
- [ X ] more items should be repeated during the next 7 days.
- The diagram has been memorized to [ X ]%. (Your global learning success)
